Aventura Optima Plaza, a Class A office and medical complex completed in 2013, located at 21500 Biscayne Boulevard in Aventura, has received its LEED Platinum certification. In a reception held at the building last month, Sandra Lee, President of the South Florida Chapter of the US Green Building Council, presented developers Jose Bromberg and Ariel Bromberg with the LEED Platinum plaque to be displayed on-site. From the press release issued by Colliers International:
This certification is the highest internationally recognized distinction of excellence awarded to projects designed to minimize the impact on our environment. With this designation, Aventura Optima Plaza became one of only two high-rise office building in Florida to be certified LEED Platinum, and the first in the City of Aventura.
The presentation included remarks by Rob Hink, Principal of The Spinnaker Group, as well as Miami-Dade Commissioner Sally Heyman, Vice Mayor of Aventura Billy Joel and Alan Rosenthal, Partner at Rosenthal, Rosenthal, Rasco, Kaplan LLC. Elaine Adler, President of the Aventura Marketing Council and Randy Olen, Executive Vice President with Colliers International South Florida, who is the building’s exclusive leasing agent, led the presentations.
Aventura Optima Plaza consists of 114,000 square feet in two office towers and a 457-space parking garage linking the two. A 20,000 square foot garage rooftop terrace features landscaped jogging trails plus an indoor exercise room with showers and lockers for building tenants. The 4-story west tower “is the first building in South Florida to feature a dual façade of hurricane proof glass—keeping building temperatures cool with less electricity.”
Both towers have functional yet decorative solar panels on their southern facades capable of producing approximately 48 KV of electricity a day, and there is a rain collection system on the roof which recirculates the water to the gardens through the sprinkler system.
“Energy efficient building systems and an impressive design have allowed Aventura Optima Plaza not only to achieve this distinguished designation, but to also set a new standard for quality buildings in the Aventura market.” ~~ Randy Olen, Executive Vice President with Colliers International South Florida
